Our Guru Mandala
Smt. Rajam Mami and Sri Y.R.K. Sharma (Sri Gnanambika Sametha Gnananandanatha), affectionately known in South Indian upasaka circles as Pottu Mami, were ardent devotees of the Kanchi Mutt and deeply realized Srividya upasakas.
Smt. Rajam Mami received her mantropadesa at the tender age of 11 from her grandfather, our Parama Guru, Shankara Shastrigal of Tiruvaiyaru. She was granted Poorna Deeksha at the age of 15, and under the guidance of her father-in-law, Sri Rajamani Iyer, and Sri Chidanandathar of the Sri Guhananda Mandali—a widely revered authority in Srividya and honored by both Kanchi and Sringeri Acharyals—she chanted Akshara Lakshas of numerous mantras.
Our Parameshti Guru, Sri Bodhanandanathar—fondly remembered as Sri Joshiyar of Madurai in Vaidika circles—was a profound astrologer, miracle-worker, and healer. He initiated many sincere seekers into the sacred path of Srividya.
One of the most sacred blessings received by our Guru was a Chandana Meru, gifted directly by Sri Mahaperiyava of Kanchi. She worshipped this Meru daily until her final moments in the physical body. Miraculously, the Meru grew from the size of a small lemon to that of a jackfruit. As per Mahaswamigal’s instructions, this was kept a secret to avoid drawing public attention.
Our Gurus founded Sri Mookambika Mandali, West Mambalam, Chennai-33, and through it, initiated and guided thousands of disciples (Shishyas) in Vaidikam, Mantra Shaastra, and Srividya upaasanaa. Their lineage continues to shine through these seekers who have become experts in their respective fields.
As for me, Neelakanta Sharma (Srini), I consider myself but a small drop in the vast Amritha Saagara—the ocean of nectar—that is our Guru Parampara.
